  1. Many thanks indeed for reposting these Television sessions, very hard to find and essential listening for Television fans.

Here's some additional information on the sessions, on their previous release history and on this specific download.

There are actually only two sessions: five demos for Island Records (Prove It, Friction, Venus De Milo, Double Exposure and Marquee Moon, all with Richard Hell) produced by Brian Eno and Richard Williams (Island's A&R man) at Good Vibrations Studios in NYC in December, 1974, and then five outtakes from the "Little Johnny Jewel" sessions for Ork Records at an unknown studio in August 1975 (Hard On Love, Friction, Careful, Prove It and Fire Engine, all with Fred Smith). The Ork sessions would lead to the release of the Little Johnny Jewel single, which is included here as a vinyl rip, not the original studio tape - the track is also included on the expanded Marquee Moon CD which everyone should have!

This download duplicates the Eno session, tracks 01-05 being derived from a low-quality bootleg called "Fairland" (Microphone Records (Italy) No. MPH CD 017 released 1994), itself taken from a flawed high-generation cassette with speed variations and a thick, booming sound. Tracks 06-10 are the identical Eno recordings but taken from the high-quality bootleg "Double Exposure" (no label (Italy) No. DE-92-SC released 1992), which is also the source for the "Little Johnny Jewel" demos, equally high quality. "Double Exposure" also included three live tracks (Fire Engine, Blank Generation and Double Exposure) recorded at CBGB's in 1975 and a closing live track (Breakin' In My Heart) uncredited in the artwork and recorded at the Piccadilly Inn, Cleveland July 25, 1975. Some downloads of "Double Exposure" omit the low-quality CBGB's tracks; the Piccadilly Inn gig can better be enjoyed as a full gig and can be found after patient searching of the Web.

So, download this, delete the first five tracks (well, listen to 'em first if you must) and enjoy: top-quality early Television in the studio! Many thanks T.U.B.E, cheers Dave Sez.

PS: for those who want more, search for "Poor Circulation" - rehearsal/demo and live recordings with Richard Hell, December 1973 to April 1975 (Eat The Light / Venus De Milo / Excitement / I'm Gonna Find You / Horizontal Ascensions / Close up / You Rip My Feelings Out / Hard On Love / Excitement / Judy / Psychotic Reaction / What I Heard / Change your Channels / Double Exposure / Fuck Rock & Roll / U.F.O. / Poor Circulation / Blank Generation / Come On In) - rough recordings but irreplaceable.
