Led Zeppelin - 1973-01-18 - Bradford,UK
(Soundboard)
The balance is much better than most from this period. This is truly a marvelous night, done justice only when the fragmentary Soundboard tape saw the light. Fortunately, the remaining fragments are probably the Hottest part of the concert! Plant is still in low voice, but recouperating; he really scares the hell out of everybody in a sudden crescendo during Dazed & Confused. In riff after riff Page flies, sometimes losing the thread, only to find it again in a renewed and inspired improvisation. In the meantime,Bonham is the perfect sewing machine. This is more evident in the final section when Bonham pulls out every conceivable rhythm pattern, carrying Mr.Page wherever he pleases. It's more like a roller coaster for lack of a better description;the return to the main theme after the madness is like falling from a great height into a thick mattress. For any Led Zeppelin fan, this Soundboard recording is a MUST!
